Getting there

Gran Canaria is most easily accessed by plane, with frequent flights arriving daily from across Europe and Africa. Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) is located around 20 km south of Las Palmas city. It offers direct connections to numerous European cities. For destinations without direct flights, connections through Madrid or Barcelona are widely available.

The main low-cost airlines operating flights to the island include Ryanair, Vueling, and EasyJet. Booking in advance is recommended as prices can fluctuate considerably.

There is a direct bus service between the airport and Las Palmas (Santa Catalina Park). Line 60 connects the airport to the city with a direct journey every 30 minutes, while line 01 takes longer but it covers the service during early morning and late-night hours.

Car rental is another convenient option. CICAR (Canary Islands Car) is a trusted local provider which offer full insurance and no hidden costs, although several other rental companies are also available. Taxis are also an option, with cost from the airport to the city between 40 and 60 €.

Further practical details, including how to get to the airport, available services, and parking information, can be found on the official airport website: www.aena.es/es/gran-canaria.html.

As an alternative to flying, it is also possible to reach Gran Canaria by ferry from southern Spain. Departures are available from Cádiz, and the journey takes approximately 30 hours. This option is operated by companies such as Naviera Armas or Trasmediterránea.
